Battle of Ostrovno (25-26 July 1812)
The battle of Ostrovno (25-26 July 1812)
was a rearguard action fought between Ostermann-Tolstoy's rearguard of
Barclay de Tolly's 1st Western Army and Murat's advance guard of the
Grande Armée. The Russians were eventually forced to retreat into
Vitebsk, but they held up the French for two days.
