Marshal Louis-Nicolas Davout, duc d'Auerstädt, prince d'Eckmühl (1770-1823)
was one of the most capable of Napoleon's marshals, and earned the
nickname of the 'Iron Marshal' because of the strict discipline he
imposed on his men.
