A short biography of Albert Kesselring, who began the Second World War
as a senior Luftwaffe commander during the invasion of Poland and the
battle of Britain but is best known for his role as commander-in-chief
in Italy for most of the lengthy German defence of the Italian
peninsula, where he played a major part in holding up the Allied
advance for so long.
