Henry Beaufort, third duke of Somerset (1436-1464)
Henry Beaufort, third duke of Somerset (1436-1464)
was a major Lancastrian military leader during the first phase of the
Wars of the Roses. He considered the death of his father at the first
battle of St. Albans as a murder that had to be avenged, and despite
the best efforts of Edward IV to win him over died fighting for Henry
VI.
