Gaspard  II de Coligny, Admiral of France (1519-1572)
 was a successful French commander  during the later stages of the 
Italian Wars who became a Huguenot leader in the  French Wars of 
Religion and who was killed during the St Bartholomew's Day  Massacre of
 August 1572.
