Battle of Finschhafen (22 September-28 October 1943)
The battle of Finschhafen (22 September-28 October 1943)
marked the start of the Huon Peninusla campaign and saw Australian
troops capture the former German port of Finschhafen, at the eastern tip
of the Huon Peninsula, and then fight off a major Japanese
counterattack.
