Marshal  Michel Ney, duc d'Elchingen, prince de la Moscowa (1769-1815)
 was famous as the  bravest of Napoleon's marshals, and was a master of 
the rearguard action. He  was said to have been the last French soldier 
to leave Russia in 1812, and was a high  quality corps commander, if not
 quite so able when given an independent  command.
