Looks at three clashes between German motorized infantry and Red Army
infantry during the battles around Smolensk in 1941, early in the
German invasion of the Soviet Union. All three ended as German
victories, but the third reveals some of the problems that the Germans
would face later in the war, as an outnumbered German unit came under
heavy pressure.
