A biography of the naval commander at the St Nazairre raid, who after a
pre-war career dominated by sailing ships (he sailed home from China in
a yacht built for the task and was the naval commander on the British
Graham Land Expedition), he had a fairly distinguished wartime career,
which included the raid on St. Nazairre, Dieppe and the D-Day Landings.
