A well balanced account of the American campaign to topple the Taliban
and disrupt or destroy Al Qaeda, with interesting sections on the
pre-war Taliban, the CIA's early involvement in Afghanistan, the uneven
progress of the short war and the controversial aftermath of the
removal of the Taliban from power.
