 at the year in which Stuart twice rode around  McClellan, commanded in 
 major battles,  and took command of 'Stonewall' Jackson's corps after 
he was mortally wounded.  Gives a good feel for the glittering façade of
 the Confederacy and the slow  darkening of the mood as battle 
casualties began to pull apart Stuart's band of  brothers.
