Looks at the two units raised by the Mayor of Accrington, the famous
Accrington Pals infantry battalion and the less well known Howitzer
artillery brigade. Between them they fought in most of the major
battles of 1916-18, suffering heavy losses on the Somme, and again in
1917 and 1918.
