Battle of Barnet, 14 April 1471
The battle of Barnet, 14 April 1471,
was the first of two victories that re-established Edward IV on the
throne after he was briefly deposed late in 1470. The battle ended with
the death of Richard Neville, earl of Warwick, the 'kingmaker', the
man whose ambitions had caused the renewal of the Wars of the Roses
after half a decade of peace.
